PURPOSE

The BCA will actively collaborate with building industry representatives and engage directly with government and the community to achieve our vision and purpose.

VISION

Building Consumers Affairs will provide a free information-based website that combines current and historical stories with analysis of experiencing the Australian residential building industry from the perspective of ordinary consumers.

ROLE

We believe the role and function of the building regulator is to monitor and enforce compliance. This ensures high standards in the building industry are maintained.  Building Consumer Affairs will strive to assist consumers navigating the perilous pathway of construction by providing access to relevant information and share cautionary tales that will inform.

Building Consumer Affairs provides an easily accessible and significant library of reference material, supporting documents, reports, legislation, and narratives to assist consumers as they negotiate the path of building their home.

Building Construction

There are many players in the building industry and the ever-growing industry that has developed around bad and shonky building.

Insightful and evidence-based information is not always readily available. 

We provide background material to the assist consumers throughout the construction or purchasing process, with the aim of reducing some of the pitfalls and difficulties that many consumers experience.

 

This can help to avoid at best or least limit financial losses, distress, and costly litigation.
